The Birmingham Stallions (9-1) and Michigan Panthers (7-3) have been on a collision course all season long, and now they’ll meet with everything on the line in the USFL Conference Championship this Saturday in Birmingham.

It’s a classic unstoppable force vs immovable object matchup. Birmingham boasts the USFL’s top-ranked offense, averaging 28.3 points per game behind QB Adrian Martinez’s 1,298 total yards and 14 touchdowns. The dual-threat star has been the catalyst, showing pinpoint passing accuracy while also gashing defenses with his legs.

On the other side, Michigan allows a stingy 16.9 points per game – the fewest in the league. Their defense is led by a ferocious pass rush and lockdown secondary. But their not-so-secret weapon is kicker Jake Bates, who has drilled three 60+ yard field goals including a UFL record 64-yarder to beat St. Louis.

When these teams met in the regular season finale, it came down to the final seconds. Bates had a potential game-winning field goal blocked as time expired, allowing Birmingham to escape with a 20-19 victory and the #1 seed. You can bet both teams have had this rematch circled ever since.

Will the Stallions’ explosive offense led by Martinez be too much for Michigan’s stingy D? Or will Bates and the Panthers make a couple of timely plays to pull the upset in Birmingham? This is strengths vs strengths at its finest. The winner advances to the UFL Championship Game in a bout worthy of its winner-take-all stakes.
