The Birmingham Stallions pulled off a stunning comeback to secure a 31-18 victory over the Michigan Panthers in the USFL Conference Championship Game held at Protective Stadium. Despite trailing early, the Stallions rallied with 28 unanswered points in the second half, thrilling the crowd of 10,287 fans.

Michigan started strong, scoring on each of their first five possessions but settling for field goals on four occasions, which gave them an 18-3 lead late in the second quarter. However, the momentum shifted dramatically when Birmingham capitalized on a kickoff out of bounds, granting them excellent field position at the 50-yard line. Stallions quarterback Adrian Martinez seized the opportunity, connecting with tight end Jordan Thomas for a game-changing 50-yard touchdown.

The third quarter was marked by a flurry of turnovers from both teams, with six in total. However, it was Birmingham’s Daniel Isom who made the pivotal play, intercepting Michigan quarterback Danny Etling and returning it 48 yards for a game-tying score.

With the game tied at 18-18 heading into the final quarter, Stallions backup QB Matt Corral took charge, leading Birmingham to two crucial touchdowns. Corral found receiver Amari Rodgers for a seven-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter to give the Stallions their first lead of the game. A blocked field goal by Birmingham’s Armani Taylor-Prioleau further stifled Michigan’s hopes, paving the way for Corral to connect with Ricky Person Jr. for another touchdown.

In total, Birmingham outgained Michigan 365-253, with Corral impressing with 120 yards passing and two touchdowns. C.J. Marable led the Stallions on the ground with 77 yards rushing, while Kyahva Tezino and Ike Brown anchored the defense with stellar performances.

Despite Michigan’s strong start, they couldn’t maintain their lead against Birmingham’s relentless comeback. Quarterback Danny Etling finished with 182 yards passing, one touchdown, and three interceptions, while Nate McCrary led the rushing attack with 62 yards.

With this victory, Birmingham advances to the United Football League Championship Game, scheduled for June 16 at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis. They await the winner of the XFL Conference Championship Game between the St. Louis Battlehawks and the San Antonio Brahmas. Kickoff is slated for 5 PM ET on FOX.
