XFL Dwayne Johnson refers to the acquisition of the XFL football league by a consortium including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, his business partner Dany Garcia, and Gerry Cardinale’s RedBird Capital Partners in August 2020. Johnson and his partners purchased the league from bankruptcy for $15 million with the goal of reviving and re-launching it as a viable alternative professional football league. The new ownership group is committed to developing a sustainable business model for the league and improving the quality of the product on the field. The XFL is expected to return to play in 2023.
