The Michigan Panthers (2-1) will make the trip to San Antonio to face the Brahmas (2-1) in a matchup with significant playoff implications. Both teams entered the season with high expectations and have lived up to the hype thus far, making this a crucial game as the UFL season approaches its midway point.
The Panthers are coming off a convincing win over the Houston Roughnecks, thanks in large part to the play of quarterback E.J. Perry and kicker Jake Bates. Perry, the former Brown University standout, leads the UFL with four rushing touchdowns and has been a dynamic dual-threat option for the Panthers. Bates, meanwhile, has been a weapon from long range, converting all five of his field goal attempts, including three from beyond 55 yards.
The Brahmas, led by quarterback Chase Garbers and a talented defense, will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season and reassert themselves as one of the league’s best teams. Garbers, the former Cal star, has been efficient and effective in his first season with the Brahmas, completing over 65% of his passes and throwing for five touchdowns.
However, the Brahmas will face a tough test against a Panthers defense that has been stingy this season, allowing just over 20 points per game. Led by linebacker Terrance Plummer and safety Tae Hayes, the Panthers have been tough against the run and have forced multiple turnovers in each of their wins.
With both teams boasting talented rosters and championship aspirations, this matchup could have significant implications for the UFL playoff picture. Will the Panthers continue their impressive start to the season and solidify their status as contenders? Or will the Brahmas bounce back from last week’s loss and defend their home turf? Tune in to FOX on Saturday, April 20, at 7:00 PM ET to find out.
