The San Antonio Brahmas (6-2) punched their ticket to the XFL Conference Championship game with an exciting 20-15 victory over the Arlington Renegades (1-7) on Sunday at the Alamodome.

McFarland’s Dazzling Return
Making his return from injury, running back Anthony McFarland Jr. stole the show with two huge catch-and-run touchdowns of 52 and 37 yards in the first half. McFarland set individual game highs with 2 TD receptions, 118 receiving yards and 136 all-purpose yards while racking up 113 yards after the catch.

Dormady’s Hot Start
Quarterback Quinten Dormady came out firing, completing 10 of 13 passes for 250 yards and the two TDs to McFarland in the opening half – the most passing yards by a Brahmas QB in a first half this season.

San Antonio Strikes First
The Brahmas wasted no time, scoring just four plays into the game on McFarland’s 52-yard TD, the longest play of the season for San Antonio. After a Morgan Ellison 1-point conversion, the lead was 7-0.

Kicker Ryan Santoso added field goals of 21 and 26 yards as San Antonio built a 20-3 halftime advantage.

Renegades Rally Falls Short
Arlington finally got on the board in the third quarter with Luis Perez’s 14-yard TD strike to Sal Cannella. Perez later hit J.P. Payton for a 5-yard score to make it 20-15 with under 2 minutes left.

But the Renegades’ comeback bid ended when Prince Emili sacked Perez on 4th-and-12 after San Antonio stuffed a 4th-and-inches run.

Stat Leaders
Dormady finished 17 of 25 for 320 yards and the 2 TDs, both game-highs in passing. Perez went 22 of 33 for 209 yards and 2 TDs.

Cannella had 9 catches for 87 yards and a score to lead all receivers. Teammate Latimer added 6 grabs for 116 yards.

Championship Game Set
With the victory, San Antonio (6-2) advanced to face the St. Louis Battlehawks (6-2) in the XFL Conference Championship Game on June 9th with home field yet to be determined.

The Brahmas will first host the undefeated Birmingham Stallions next Saturday at 2pm CT on ABC. Arlington (1-7) will welcome St. Louis on Saturday at 11am CT.
