The D.C. Defenders put together one of their most impressive offensive performances of the season, racking up 431 total yards in a 36-21 rout of the Memphis Showboats on Sunday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

Offensive Onslaught
Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu led the offensive onslaught, completing 20 of 24 passes for 237 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs while adding 38 rushing yards and another score on the ground.

Ta’amu spread the ball around to several different receivers, connecting with Chris Rowland, Keke Coutee and Alex Ellis for touchdowns through the air.

The Defenders jumped out to a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter and never looked back, taking a 30-7 advantage into the fourth.

Quick Strike Ability
D.C. showed off its quick strike ability, needing just 7 plays to go 77 yards on the opening TD drive capped by Ta’amu’s 35-yard scoring strike to Rowland.

After Memphis pulled within 14-7, the Defenders answered immediately with a 61-yard TD march just before halftime to make it 22-7 at the break.

Defensive Playmakers
While the offense stole the show, D.C.’s defense made some big plays as well. Montae Nicholson had a team-high 7 tackles along with an interception. Dareon Conley also picked off a pass.

Bright Spots for Memphis
For Memphis (1-8), running back Darius Victor provided a bright spot with 98 rushing yards and a TD on just 14 carries.

Quarterbacks Josh Love and Troy Williams combined for 2 TD passes, but also threw 3 interceptions between them.

With the win, D.C. improved to 4-5 on the season heading into their regular season finale at home against Arlington next Sunday.
