As the 2025 season approaches, St. Louis Battlehawk fans are in for a treat when they step into The Dome at America’s Center, affectionately known as “The BattleDome.” This iconic venue has undergone significant upgrades, promising an enhanced experience for both players and spectators alike.
A Fresh Field for a New Era
The most noticeable change is the brand new, bright green AstroTurf field that now graces the stadium floor. This isn’t just any turf; it’s a state-of-the-art RootZone 3D3 system, similar to the one used by the University of Missouri since 2021.
“To have the right kind of lighting and the right kind of field to support professional football is wonderful,” says Brent Buchanan, Vice President of Operations for Explore St. Louis. “The typical artificial turf lasts 8-10 years, so we were well overdue for it. With the success of the Battlehawks, it really made it worthwhile to do the addition and redo the turf.”
The new turf boasts several impressive features:
- 60-ounce Trionic fibers for durability and performance
- A Brock PowerBase Pro pad to enhance shock absorbency and stability
- A texturized layer that provides grass-like traction and reduces player impact
- Minimal splash of rubber infill material
- Unique roll-up capability for storage in a floor chamber behind the south endzone
“We’re unique,” Buchanan confirms. “There’s only a few of these systems in existence.”
Lighting Up the Action
Complementing the new field is a cutting-edge LED lighting system. These lights not only illuminate the field more brightly but also play a crucial role in enhancing the Battlehawks’ gameday presentation.
Brandon Williams, St. Louis Battlehawks Vice President of Team Business, explains the impact: “How we introduce players, halftime, when we score a touchdown – it’s a lot brighter. It goes on and off a lot quicker, just by touching a screen, so it will make a huge difference.”
The BattleDome Experience
The Dome at America’s Center is more than just a stadium; it’s a multi-purpose venue that can accommodate up to 82,624 fans. The seating configuration includes:
- 120 private luxury suites
- 6,400 club seats
- 28,352 seats in the lower bowl (concourse level)
- 29,400 seats in the upper bowl (terrace level)
As part of the larger America’s Center convention complex, the stadium benefits from excellent accessibility, including service by the Convention Center MetroLink rail station.
A Rich History
The Dome has been a St. Louis landmark since 1995 when it welcomed the NFL’s St. Louis Rams. After the Rams’ departure in 2015, the venue found new life with the arrival of the St. Louis Battlehawks in early 2020. Since then, Battlehawk fans have embraced the stadium, dubbing it the “BattleDome” and creating one of the most electric atmospheres in the United Football League.

Looking Ahead
With six home games scheduled for the 2025 season, excitement is building among Battlehawks fans. Season ticket renewals are currently underway, with loyal supporters having until September 5, 2024, to secure their spots at last season’s prices and enter the Battlehawks VIP Home Opener contest.
As the new season approaches, one thing is clear: The BattleDome is ready to rock. With its fresh field, dazzling lights, and passionate fans, The Dome at America’s Center promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for everyone who enters its doors. Welcome to the BattleDome – the heart of Battlehawks country!
