The Memphis Showboats have bolstered their offense by acquiring quarterback Quinten Dormady in a trade with the San Antonio Brahmas. In exchange, Memphis sent outside linebacker Jordan Ferguson to the Brahmas, enhancing the defensive lineup for San Antonio.
Dormady’s Track Record: From the Brahmas to the Showboats
Dormady had a standout season with the Brahmas, helping them secure a conference championship and a spot in the UFL Championship Game. Despite appearing in only seven of the ten regular season games, Dormady made a significant impact, completing 103 out of 173 passes for 1,206 yards. His efforts placed him fifth in passing yards across the UFL, with six touchdowns and six interceptions on record. With Dormady under center, the Brahmas were ranked third in passing offense and fourth in total offense for the 2024 season.
Prior Success: XFL Stint with the Orlando Guardians
Before joining the UFL, Dormady demonstrated his skill in the XFL as a member of the Orlando Guardians in 2023. That season, he passed for 1,507 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions, adding an extra four touchdowns on the ground. His versatility as both a passer and a rushing threat made him a key player in the Guardians’ offense.
Collegiate Career: A Steady Journey to Success
Dormady’s journey began in the NCAA, where he initially played for Tennessee and Houston before transferring to Central Michigan. At Central Michigan, he played an integral role in leading the Chippewas to the MAC Championship game and a New Mexico Bowl appearance in 2019. He completed 64.6% of his passes for 2,312 yards, throwing for 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
What Dormady Brings to Memphis
With Dormady joining the Showboats, Memphis gains a seasoned quarterback known for his ability to elevate an offense, adapt to high-stakes games, and lead a team to championships. The Memphis Showboats look to capitalize on Dormady’s experience and skill set as they aim for a competitive edge in the upcoming season.
This strategic move is set to invigorate Memphis’s offense while providing San Antonio with additional defensive strength through the acquisition of Jordan Ferguson. Both teams stand to benefit as they prepare for another exciting UFL season.
