The Birmingham Stallions made a significant move today, re-signing quarterback Matt Corral to their roster. The former Ole Miss standout is coming back to familiar territory after his brief stint with the Minnesota Vikings earlier this year.
Corral, who was initially drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, brings an impressive college resume to Birmingham. During his time at Ole Miss, he threw for over 8,000 yards and 57 touchdowns while leading the Rebels to notable success, including a 10-2 record in his final season.
The 25-year-old quarterback’s journey has been marked by various transitions, from Carolina to New England, and most recently Minnesota. His return to Birmingham signals a fresh opportunity to showcase the talents that made him a standout college player.
For the Stallions, securing Corral strengthens their quarterback room heading into the upcoming UFL season. His previous experience with the team’s system under head coach Skip Holtz should allow for a smooth transition back into the offense.
This signing represents both a homecoming for Corral and a strategic move for the Stallions as they prepare to defend their position in the UFL.
